From the Corner Office: COMING UP!

The Theatre is absolutely buzzing with jolly red-suited characters as we approach Opening Night of the Annapolis District Drama Group`s production of DEAR SANTA.  The play features Nina and Lily Habinski as stowaways on a train to the North Pole (with Shelly Habinski as their Mother), Miles Leahy as Santa, Brian Rice as Santa`s Chief of Staff, Sam Cooper as Santa`s Russian Maintenance Man, Eloise Mailman as Santa`s Housekeeper and Simon Bonnington as the sleazy Sleigh Salesman. And then there`s the elves! Karen Tomasino, Colleen Rowland, Donnie Carter, Alex Hancock, Linda Hulme Leahy, Haley Beatty and Rachael Cheechoo ham it up. Wayne Currie directs the mayhem. For adults, kids, and those in between.

Also next week is the King's Film Society's presentation of LOVING VINCENT, a visually stunning portrait of Vincent van Gogh -- the first-ever feature-length painted film. Click on the poster to check out both the trailer and a short doc on the making of.

Next week it's the ANNAPOLIS BASIN COMMUNITY BAND Concert "The Moon of Winter", with guest ANNAPOLIS VOICES.  You can buy your tickets from any member of the band, or at the door (cash only).

You can catch MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS on both Friday and Saturday nights. An all-star cast in the Agatha Christie's classic.

In concert it's HEATHER RANKIN, joined by Kim Dunn on piano, Jamie Robinson on guitar, and Ronald Hynes on acoustic bass. A mix of Christmas tunes, songs from her solo CDs, and Rankin Family favourites. Thanks to Armstrong Law.

--------------------------------------------

Last weekend's DIOMIRA concert was nothing short of astonishing. Dinuk's compositions were beautiful, lyrical, seductive. Nick's rhythms and Joseph's accordion playing were hypnotic. It was innovative and moving, and as one patron said, it was "easy on the ears". A highlight was Dinuk climbing inside the piano to play it like a harp. We hope to have them back, so if you didn't make it to the concert this time, you just might get another opportunity+ to find out what missed!

----------------------------------------------

A few belated thank yous. To Val & Paul Stackhouse and Flora Colautti Hall for running the 50/50 draw at the Breabach/Old Man Luedecke concert. To all of your for buying tickets. To Tartan Wave for donating an Annapolis Royal Tartan scarf.  And to Bill Smith, who no sooner won the draw as he turned around a gave it back to the Theatre. Thank Bill and thank you all!

-------------------------------------

As promised, our Photo Gallery features pics by Dan Froese of the OLD MAN LUEDECKE and BREABACH concert, plus some pics taken by yours truly of the PEGGY ARMSTRONG TRIBUTE.

See you at the theatre!

Alex Cuba and King's Theatre on CTV's W5

Thanks so much for the link to the W5 story on Alex Cuba. An excellent video. Not only did I learn more about this wonderful musician and his insightful humanity but it brought back vivid memories of an amazing night at King's Theatre.
