Celebrating 25 Years of Barnstorming

"I think surrendering to what calls you
and reinventing yourself are probably some of the
most exciting revelations you can have in your life."

~ James Reams about his 25 years in bluegrass music

“Like A Flowing River: A Bluegrass Passage,” a feature-length documentary by MediaSmith, relates the story of bluegrass performer, James Reams, who is celebrating his 25th anniversary as a bluegrass band leader in 2018. This documentary includes plenty of music – both traditional songs and originals – from singer/songwriter James Reams, a 25 year veteran and, as one music critic notes, “a bluegrass visionary.” Listening to James’ story, you can’t help but like the guy and admire the way he has persevered in this sometimes brutal music industry. Many DJs consider James to be the “real deal” when it comes to bluegrass music.

One of the hit songs from James' newest album, Rhyme & Season, is featured in the film. The semi- autobiographical song "Long Gone Out West Blues," describes James' journey from back east to out west after the death of his life partner, Tina Aridas.
