Underground 2017: 2.0
Where did the year go?
Here we are, still writing "2016" on our checks and we're
already announcing the second half of 2017's concerts at
Bluegrass Underground with
more to come. And what a second half it is already. The
Volcano Room will host a Bluegrass Hall of Famer, a trio of classic
country stars, some of the greatest Americana singer-songwriters of
all time and one of the best Christmas shows you will ever see, above
or below ground.
July 15, it's
first-generation bluegrass master and IBMA Hall of Famer Jesse
McReynolds, who, along with reinventing the mandolin with his unique
cross-picking style, led the legendary Jim & Jesse & The
Virginia Boys with his late brother. No hard-core traditionalist,
Jesse recorded albums of Chuck Berry and Grateful Dead songs and
recorded with Jim Morrison and the Doors. He's a truly unique artist
and a wonderfully sweet and humble human being. Do not miss him.The
bluegrass/swing/classic country duo The Farmer & Adele and their
band open the 1 pm. show. Tickets are here.
12, it's downhome hokum and hilarity with the return of The
Tennessee Mafia Jug Band featuring Leroy Troy. Fiddler Johnny
Campbell and his Bluegrass Drifters open the 1 p.m. show with
classic Nashville bluegrass.

the end of the rainbow, get your tixs here.
9, it's versatile GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter Jim Lauderdale,
who has recorded with Ralph Stanley, co-written with Grateful Dead
done albums of R&B and blues, penned a string of hits for
George Strait and somehow finds the time to host our sister show,
Music City Roots.

Nov. 4 - it's the Youngest Old Timer, Ronnie
Reno, who was playing with his father Don Reno's pioneering bluegrass
band with Red Smiley, The Tennessee Cutups, before he was a teenager.
You've seen him on TV, hosting his Reno's Old Time Music Festival,
but he'll be live and in person in the Volcano Room with his Reno
Tradition. Teea Goans opens the 1 p.m. show. On sale here.
Nov. 18, it's
a double bill featuring two of the all-time best Americana
singer-songwriters - Darrell Scott with Robbie Fulks. Both acts will feature great bands that will dazzle
the cave with musical stalactites & mites!
& muscality this is a show not to be missed.
Dec. 2, it's one of the absolutely best Christmas
shows you will ever see. There's a reason why Suzy Bogguss was Chet
Atkins' favorite female singer in the final years of his life and her
perfect pitch, infectious warmth effortless sense of humor and total
lack of artifice makes her the perfect artist for an unforgettable
Christmas show filled with the real spirit of the holidays. Makes
a great early gift.
